The Demons Take Requests
A new benefit for annual and founding subscribers. The only one of its kind (I think).
Give me a detail. A name, a fear, an object you can’t explain, the thing your grandmother said once and never repeated. I’ll take it into the Demons lane and write you a piece of flash fiction built around it. Five hundred to a thousand words, yours, and I’ve never offered anything like it anywhere.
That’s the headline of something I’ve wanted to fix for a while: how supporting this publication actually works. So here’s the whole of it, plainly.
Nothing here is paywalled, and nothing ever will be. Every chapter, short, and dispatch stays free to everyone. What’s changed is that paying now gives something back.
Monthly subscribers read every new chapter and short a few days ahead of the rest of the world. Go annual and you keep that early window and you get the personalized story, one a year, written by hand for you. Founding Truth Keepers get all of it, plus their name on the launch of Book One this October, because they’re the ones putting it into print.
The story is the pull, so here’s how it works. Any annual or founding subscriber can request one per year. Reply to any email from me, or send a direct message here on Substack, with your detail or your idea. I write one or two of these a month, in the order they arrive, and I take the time each one needs, so there’s no promised date. When it’s finished it lands in your inbox. Want it shared? I’ll post it with your name on the dedication. Want it kept? It stays between you and the demons.
Two honest ground rules. These stories live beside the Demons anthology, in its shadow; they visit that world without moving into it, so nothing you request will bend the books. And the caps are there because every one is written by hand, by me, at the same desk where the novels get built. The writing comes first. Your subscription is what makes the writing the job, and the perk only works if that stays true.
